VSOS acknowledges the Dharawal people as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we operate. This recognition honors the deep connection the Dharawal people have to the land, waters, and culture that has been passed down through generations. The Dharawal people have lived and cared for this region for thousands of years, and their rich cultural traditions continue to play an essential role in the preservation of the environment and cultural heritage of the area.
By acknowledging the Dharawal people, we recognize their sovereignty and their ongoing connection to the land. We also pay respect to the Elders, past, present, and emerging, who have guided their communities through times of change and struggle, and who continue to provide leadership and wisdom for future generations. This acknowledgment extends to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, whose diverse cultures, traditions, and histories have shaped the landscape of Australia.
